During my summer holidays I watched a movie called Lets Be Cops. The genre of this movie is comedy and it is about two protagonists pretending to be police officers and taking advantage of the law system. Whilst preparing to go to a costume party, the two characters named Justin and Ryan decide to dress up as police officers but soon realize that everybody suspects them of being real cops. This leads them to take the law into their own hands such as taking marijuana off teenagers and smoking it themselves. This film demonstrates how police officers hold a certain authority over the public and how willing people are to obey those that hold greater power than themselves.
I listened to a variety of music over the summer and a song which I particularly enjoyed was It’s My Birthday by Will.i.am and Cody Wise, which originally came from a Tamil Indian song. It is a popular song which is validated as it came number 1 in the UK charts. The genre is pop and it is a feel good song. It is about the endless possibilities of what you can do on your birthday such as in the lyrics ‘I’mma spend my money’. This song helps motivate me to be more active and to live life everyday as if it is my birthday.
A news story which developed in July was that a plane flying over Ukraine was shot down killing many civilians on board. The incident occurred when the aeroplane took a different route and ended up between Ukraine and Russia boarder. The Malaysia plane was shot down by pro- Russian rebels and resulted to 283 people dying. My reaction to hearing this news was of surprise and sadness and it makes me question how humans can be so cruel.

I spent many hours of my summer watching an award winning drama
called Breaking Bad. The plot consists of a teacher who develops lung cancer
and is struggling to pay for his treatments.
He decides to form a partnership with a former student into producing
and selling crystal meth amphetamine. The show portrays how people are negatively
affected by the use of the drugs. I enjoyed the development of the characters a person called Water White he is a teacher that sells drugs, he is doing this simply to leave enough money for his family before he
passes away. I also enjoyed the suspense generated during each episode which
can make the plot unpredictable and there are elements of comedy such as Jesse
Pinkman's famous catchphrase ‘Yo bitch’.
Everyday during summer I spent my time on
Facebook. I found it particularly useful because I went on holiday and it
enabled me to message and keep up to date with my friends and family members.
Also I was able to upload many photographs of my holiday so the whole community
could observe what I got up to. Facebook helps people to be more social and
raise awareness to issues and this can be portrayed through how celebrities put
themselves through the ALS ice bucket challenges. This lead to the public also
doing these ice bucket challenges which helped increase charity donations for
ALS disease.
